Zij schrijft I have attached a picture of my father, Gerrit Beintema, standing in front of the station in Blija. He was the son of Johannes Beintema and Trintje Hoogterp. He lived in the station with his family in the late thirties(?) and the early forties. An excerpt from a story by a young Jewish girl says that she was hidden here during the second world war by the Beintema family. My father and my mother, Jitske Reitsma, were married in 1945 and lived in a section of the station with my grandparents and the rest of the family. My two oldest brothers lived here also. They all immigrated to Canada in 1949.
